A Backup is Already in Progress

Problem:

When attempting to perform a backup a message appears stating "A Backup is already in progress by another users."

Solution:

A file named "Hotbackup.txt" should appear every time you open the Medisoft backup utility and be removed when the utility is closed. The error occurs on the rare occasion that the utility fails to close properly. This is usually due to power loss, the program being forcibly closed, or the computer going to sleep before the backup utility can be closed properly. To correct the error:

  1. Browse to your Medidata folder on your server. (My Computer -> Network -> {Your Server Name} -> Medidata)
  2. Find the "Hotbackup.txt" file in the root Medidata folder. Do not look in the other folder inside the Medidata folder.
  3. Delete "Hotbackup.txt"
